Phrasal Verbs Phrasal Verbs หรือ กริยาวลี หรือ Two-word verbs คือ กลุ่มคำที่ประกอบด้วย คำกริยา ตามด้วย adverb หรือ preposition และมีความหมายต่างไปจากคำกริยาเดิม Phrasal Verbs อาจจะแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ประเภทใหญ่ ๆ คือ Phrasal Verbs ที่แยกจากกันได้ - กรรมของประโยคที่เป็นคำนาม อาจจะต่อท้าย หรือแทรกอยู่ตรงกลาง Phrasal Verbs ก็ได้ แต่ถ้ากรรม เป็นกลุ่มคำยาว ๆ จะอยู่ต่อจาก Phrasal เช่น You have to do this paint job over. You have to do over this paint job. คุณต้องทาสีงานนี้ใหม่อีกครั้ง You have to do over this ridiculous paint job. คุณต้องทาสี งานสีที่ดูแปลกประหลาดใหม่อีกครั้ง - แต่ถ้ากรรม เป็นคำสรรพนาม เช่น him her me them it เป็นต้น Phrasal Verbs ต้องแยกกัน You have to do it over. ✔ You have to do over it . ✘ คุณต้องทำงานใหม่อีกครั้ง Phrasal Verbs ที่แยกจากกัน ไม่ได้ Phrasal Verbs ประเภทนี้ จะอยู่คู่กันเสมอ ส่วนที่เป็นกรรม จะต่อจาก Phrasal Verb ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคำนาม หรือคำสรรพนามก็ตาม เช่น The students went over the material before the exam.
