suggest แปลว่าแนะนำ ในภาษาไทยเราพูดว่า ใคร + แนะนำ + ใคร + ให้ทำอะไร แต่ในภาษาอังกฤษ เราจะ ไม่ พูดว่า He suggested us that we should go to the beach. แต่ต้องพูดว่า He suggested that we should go to the beach. หรือ He suggested that we go to the beach. (ภาษาอังกฤษแบบอเมริกันจะไม่ใช้ should แต่จะตามด้วยกริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่ไม่มี to นำหน้า) การใช้ suggest มีวิธีใช้ 3 ลักษณะ ใหญ่ ๆ คือ Suggest that someone do something (แนะนำว่า ใคร ทำอะไร) รูปประโยคที่ใช้คือ Subject + suggest + (that) + subject + กริยาช่อง 1 ที่ไม่มี to คำว่า that อาจจะมีหรือไม่มีก็ได้ ตัวอย่างประโยค The company suggested (that) we take an extra day off. ไม่ใช่ The company suggested us to take an extra day off.
