Infinitive หรือ Gerund คำกริยาที่ตามด้วย gerund ที่พบอยู่บ่อย ๆ มีหลายคำ บางคำก็สามารถตามได้ทั้ง gerund และ infinitive โดยที่ความหมายคล้ายกัน หรือ บางคำก็มีความหมายต่างกัน หรือบางคำโดยปกติก็ตามด้วย gerund แต่ถ้ามีกรรมมาคั่น ก็ต้องใช้ infinitive เป็นต้น admit ยอมรับ He admitted stealing the ring. เขาได้สารภาพว่า ขโมยแหวนวงนั้นไป advise แนะนำ Doctors generally advised doing exercise. แพทย์โดยทั่วไปจะแนะนำให้ออกกำลังกาย The doctor advised him to do more exercise. นายแพทย์คนนั้น แนะนำให้เขาออกกำลังกายเพิ่มมากขึ้น มีกรรม (object) มาคั่น ให้ตามด้วย infinitive allow อนุญาต Thailand doesn't allow smoking in hospitals. ประเทศไทยไม่อนุญาตให้สูบบุหรี่ในโรงพยาบาล Thailand doesn't allow people to smoke in hospitals. ประเทศไทยไม่อนุญาตให้ประชาชน สูบบุหรี่ในโรงพยาบาล มีกรรมมาคั่น ให้ตามด้วย infinitive คำอื่น ๆ เช่น advise, recommend, allow, permit, require เป็นต้น anticipate คาดการณ์ล่วงหน้า I anticipated getting stuck in traffic. ฉันคาดว่าจะติดอยู่ในการจราจร (คาดว่ารถ

คำกริยา ที่มักจะออกข้อสอบภาษาอังกฤษ เรื่อง Grammar มักจะมีการใช้ คำว่า have/make/get/let อยู่ด้วยเสมอ ประเด็นคือ คำกริยาที่ตามมา จะอยู่ในรูปอะไร จะเป็น กริยาช่อง 1 หรือ กริยาช่อง 1 ที่ไม่มี to นำหน้า หรือ เป็นกริยาช่อง 3 ซึ่ง มีหลัก ดังนี้ LET ใช้ในความหมายว่า อนุญาตให้ใคร ทำอะไร หรือ อะไร เป็นอะไร กริยาที่ตามมา จะเป็น กริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่ไม่มี to นำหน้า หรือ ที่เรียกว่าเป็น base form รูปแบบ LET + SOMEONE/SOMETHING + VERB(base form) Sombat let me drive his new car. สมบัติอนุญาตให้ฉันขับรถใหม่ของเขา Don’t let the advertising expenses surpass 5,000 baht. อย่าให้ค่าใช้จ่ายในการโฆษณาเกินกว่า 5,000 บาทนะ GET ใช้ในความหมายว่า ชักชวน/กระตุ้น ให้ใคร ทำอะไร ถ้าเน้นคน  จะตามด้วย กริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่มี to นำหน้า หรือ ที่เรียกว่า infinitive รูปแบบ GET + SOMEONE + TO + DO + SOMETHING I got the cleaner to clean under the cupboards. ฉันให้คนทำความสะอาด ทำความสะอาดใต้ตู้ ถ้าเน้นที่สิ่งของ  โดยไม่บอกว่าใครเป็นคนทำ จะตามด้วย กริยาช่อง 3 หรือ past participle รูปแบบ GET
